Dysport® For The Treatment Of Wrinkles

Dysport® is a medication recently approved by the FDA, similar to Botox Cosmetic® used for treating a variety of wrinkles. Dysport® is injected with a needle the size of a human eyelash; it works by relaxing facial muscles, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown-lines and wrinkles. Effects as reported can occur in as little as 2 days, and can last up to 6 months.

Dysport® is not a “new” medication it has been successfully used for the treatment of facial wrinkles in Europe, Asia, and South America for over 10 years.

How does Dysport® work?

Dysport® is a five minute procedure that is safe and helps you look youthful, relaxed, and feel better about yourself. Dysport® blocks impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles that are related to wrinkle and expression lines. After treatment, the wrinkled skin becomes smooth and gives a more youthful appearance, while the untreated facial muscles still contract, allowing for normal facial expression.

Is Dysport Safe?

Dysport® injections have been used safely and effectively for over fifteen years to treat many ophthalmologic and neurological disorders. Studies performed around the world have shown it to have an equal or more favorable safety profile than Botox®. However, while rare some side effects can and occur. The most common side effects are temporary soreness or mild bruising around the injection site.

Dysport® consists of the same basic ingredient as Botox® which is Botlulinum Toxin A.
