INDICATIONS
The Laser Liposculpting procedure is best done for patients with small to moderate localized fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is most useful in areas that have loose skin as well as extra fat. Common areas include the neck, arms, abdomen, back, and legs.
INTENDED RESULTS
A smoothing of the contour of the body area with tightening of the overlying skin.
PROCEDURE
The procedure is done in the office under a local tumescent anesthetic. Oral sedatives, if needed can also be prescribed. Tiny incisions are made and dilute numbing medicine is placed with a pump. The laser is then inserted through a hollow tube and worked around the fat to melt and disrupt it. We then remove the resultant liquid with a gentle suction liposculpture canula. The last step is to replace the laser fiber, this time on another wavelength that will tighten the overlying skin. A prescription garment is worn home. You are up and around the same day!
RECUPERATION AND HEALING
In the first few days, most patients are swollen, mildly bruised and sore as if they had a hard workout. These symptoms abate rapidly and allow for a return to work in a day or two. Exercise can usually be resumed in a few days after that. The skin will continue to tighten over several months time.
